Mineraria Gerrei is ushering in a new era of mining at the historic Silius site in South Sardinia with an ambitious relaunch project centered on innovation, operational efficiency, and high-value partnerships. The company is overhauling the mine’s infrastructures and is implementing advanced extraction technologies to restart fluorspar production.
This modern approach not only aims to achieve an annual output of roughly 70,000 tons of high-purity fluorspar, but also minimizes environmental impact through innovative production systems such as by-product reuse, water recirculation, and plans for electrification of mining equipment. Central to this vision is Mineraria Gerrei’s commitment to collaborate with industry-leading partners to ensure the Silius mine’s revival is sustainable, efficient, and cutting-edge.
